Today I will complete part 3 of a 3 part series on the topic of LOVE
Part 1 – was love in couples/marriage
Part 2 – was loving your body
Part 3 is loving your shadow!!!
This last one supports the first 2 and deserved it’s own day/segment
For as we ascend into a new earth, we are not escaping our shadow
Carl Jung said it best, “The most terrifying thing is to accept one completely.”
This was evidenced in the movie Groundhog Day with Bill Murray – I couldn’t help but rewatch it this past weekend on Groundhog day weekend!
He was faced with his shadows – MANY OF THEM (not just the groundhog’s!)
The world is a mirror – often the qualities we don’t like in others, we don’t like or accept in ourselves
Why does this always happen to me? These patterns often have a shadowy root that we need to address
“I always avoid talking about that…..”
What makes you uncomfortable?
Embrace vulnerability – all of this is what our shadow wants
It wants to be seen, heard and oftentimes, validated.
If we resist or numb or avoid….it will persist (just as Bill Murray found in the movie!)
He had to face his inflated ego
His mortality (he literally killed himself over and over again realizing nothing was changing without him doing the deep shadow work)
His fear of relationships and intimacy and being ALONE
He isolated himself
He faced his fear of vulnerability
His limiting beliefs in his career came up
and then some
It ALL came up for him
AND when he faced it….he was able to move forward with his life
Does any of this resonate with you????
And while many try to escape through old belief systems, numbing, addiction, fear, etc., only those who truly embrace and fall in love with your shadow will ascend and find their highest and best versions of ourselves
Here is some simple homework for you
Notice Your emotional flare ups – write down what happened to trigger your emotions
What do you think was the deeper emotion or suppressed memory at play? How did you feel after the event
List down three traits that you observed in others that recently bothered you
For each trait – write about a time that maybe you displayed that behavior, or felt the urge to
What emotions arise as you reflect on this?
NOTE: Especially look at those closest to you – partner, child, business partner, friend – that you see most often
Shadow work will help your health, your wealth, your relationships AND generate a deeper sense of WISDOM (healthy n wealth n wise!)
NOTE: DO NOT do shadow work alone. Have support/help a coach or guide like me or SOMEONE. This can bring up traumas and also physical health issues, as well as mental health issues that can be destabilizing or cause you to end up in a trauma loop.
